This project was located in the side of a ridge in the Talega development area of North San Clemente and consists of two (2) 1.4 MG welded steel tank domestic water reservoirs and one (1) 1.0 MG welded steel tank recycled water reservoir. The domestic reservoirs included on-site chloramination and reservoir management system within a separate CMU building with a concrete tile roof. The whole project was “hidden” from San Clemente view behind a ridge line. |

This 3.0 MG rectangular, hopper bottom, reinforced concrete reservoir was designed and constructed in conjunction with the City’s new corporation yard, which was constructed over the top of the finished buried reservoir. The reservoir was designed for traffic loading, parking and limited materials storage on its roof. During excavation for construction an ancient fault trace was discovered, which resulted in additional geotechnical investigations, project delays and relocation and partial re-design of the structure and associated pipelines. |

DBE prepared a life cycle cost analysis for several types of reservoirs (concrete, welded steel, bolted steel, etc.) and reservoir configurations for on-site, a pre-design report for District-selected steel tank alternative, site survey, final design, plans, specifications and construction support for this 1.6 MG steel tank. Constraints of the existing site included protecting endangered trees and maintaining the existing reservoir site in service during construction. |
