Commission Well 19 is located in an underground vault within the parking area of a retail center. Design of the vault took into account the poor soil and high ground water conditions. Commission Well 20 is located within a regional park, constructed within an 8-foot high masonry block enclosure with lift out steel panels for drill rig access to the well. The project included design of the enclosures, metering, instrumentation and a bypass pipeline that can be used to fill the nearby recreational lake. |

The Talbert Seawater Intrusion Barrier is operated by Orange County Water District to protect the Orange County Groundwater Basin from seawater intrusion. Each of the three (3) well sites incorporated two (2) unique injection wells. DBE provided complete planning including system hydraulic analysis, alternative well site analysis and layouts, preliminary design, final design, construction support, and construction management of I27 and I28. All down-hole equipment is stainless steel, including the flow control valves and submersible pumps used for back-flushing. The wells incorporate the latest technology and employed maximum instrumentation for future R&D. |

This extraction well replaced an existing well that was not capable of providing adequate supply to the Brewer Desalting Plant. The new well is fitted with 150 horsepower deep-well vertical turbine pump, which is designed to run continuously and produce 1,250 GPM. The triple casing nested monitoring well was located at a remote location within public street right-of-way, near a residential neighborhood. DBE provided complete design services, permitting, multiple agency coordination, on-site inspection and monitoring during well drilling and casing installation, construction support engineering and assistance during startup and initial operation. |
